Do the order of operations.
1) parentheses
2) exponent
3) multiply/divide
4) add/ subtract.
Keep in mind in order to know weather to multiple, divide, add or subtract you have to read the problem like a book left to right.

24+3.1+(-44)+(-8.2)+63

= 24 + 3.1 - 44 - 8.2 + 63

= 87 + 3.1 - 44 - 8.2

= 43 + 3.1 - 8.2

= 43 + 3.1 - 3.1 - 5.1

= 43 - 5.1

= 43 - 3 - 2.1

= 40 - 2.1

= 37.9
