Pythagorean theorem: a² + b² = c²

The legs are a² and b², and the hypotenuse is c².

Both legs measure 8 in, so plug in 8 into the formula and solve for c (hypotenuse).

8² + 8² = c²
64 + 64 = c²
128 = c²

Square root both sides.

c = 11.3 inches
