Hi there!

Since the complementary angle adds up to 90 degrees, we would add 55° and (3x + 8)° and set it equal to 90°.

55° + (3x + 8)° = 90°

Now, to find x, we simplify.

63 + 3x = 90
3x = 27
x = 9

So, x is 9 degrees.
