The truth is that the scholars do not know what caused the collapse of the Maya civilization!

There are some theories (natural disasters: droughts or epidemic diseases) or foreign invasions but we don't have any definite evidence for any of that! As far as we know, the Mayas just abandoned their ancient cities and never came back to live in them again.
