Taxation affected the life of colonists in a lot of ways. 
1. Colonists thought that taxation was very unfair, since they were not getting a say on the parliament. This is where the famous phrase "NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION" comes from.
2. It made a lot of people angry, since the taxes were becoming severe.
