When spread out and viewed with electron microscopy, an active rrna gene looks like a?

looks like a christmas tree.

Each rRNA gene is surrounded by  growing RNA chains.
The new RNA that just got synthesized is spread out on either side of the gene being transcribed.  The first transcripts are shorter but as the transcription  progresses along the gene, they get longer and longer, that's why it looks like a Christmas tree.
