Is there a chemical reaction between the water in salt that will allow the egg float?

No. While the salt added to the water creates a solution with a higher density than the egg it's self which allows it to float, there was no actual chemical reaction. Because both the salt and water can eventually be separated, that makes it a physical change rather than chemical.
