A square has 4 congruent sides. Divide 140 by 4 to get the measure of one of the sides. That would be 35. To find the area of the square simply multiply one side by another, or bring one side to the power of two (square it; have you heard that before? This is where it comes from).

35^2 = 35 *35 = 1225.

The area of the square is 1,225 inches squared.

A square has 4 equal sides. Divide 140 by 4 to get  35.

(35*35)+(35*35)

35^2 = 35 *35 = 1225.

The area of the square is 1,225 inches
