What advantage did confederate forces have over the defenders at fort sumter?

The main advantage was that it was an enclave in a Confederate city, which means that it was small and surrounded by Confederate forces from all sides, which enabled them to quickly attack it all at once and win with ease. The Sumter forces couldn't call for reinforcements or defend properly or even escape so they had to lose eventually.
