triangle area = 1/2 x b x h

here

b = h + 6

so

1/2 x (h+6) x h = 56

1/2h² + 3h = 56

h² + 6h - 112 = 0

Δ = 6² - 4*1*(-112) = 22²

h' = (-6 + 22) / 2 = 8

h'' = (-6 - 22) / 2 - impossible

height = 8

and base = 14   (8+6)

check

area = 1/2 x b x h = 1/2 x 8 x 14 = 56
