What caused the Scots’ mistrust and hatred of the English?

There are several reasons behind the mistrust and hatred of the Scots' for the English. The scots' feel that they are being dominated and their language and culture is not given proper priority by the English. The English had attacked Scotland and brought them under the British Crown during the 13th century.
