The answer is 2x+6

Combine like terms. You can distribute the negative if it confuses you.

5x + 8 - 3x -2

Breaking it down :

5x-3x = 2x

That leaves you with 2x + 8 - 2

8-2= 6

Putting it together, you have

2x + 6
