Prometheus wanted to give humans something important to make them thrive above the animals of the earth.
Prometheus was worried about the humans, who had nothing useful to help them live among these greater beasts. He decided to give them fire, a gift only the gods have held for eternity, because otherwise the humans would be overthrown by the other creatures.
