Distribute

(5)(y)+(5)(-4)=(7)(2y)+(7)(1)

5y-20=14y+7

Now we need to subtract 14y from both sides

5y-20-14y=14y+7-14y

-9y-20=7

Now add 20

-9y-20+20=7+20

-9y=27

Divide both sides by -9 to both sides so we can find the value for y

-9y/-9= 27/-9

y= -3
