For that , we substitute (x,y) = (5,6)  i.e. x= 5 and y=6 , we get

Subtract 12 from both the sides ,we get

[tex]5k=-7\\\\\Rightarrow\ k=\dfrac{-7}{5}=-1.4[/tex]  (Divide both sides by 5)

Hence, the required value of k= -1.4
