Step 1: It tells you that x = 4, so replace x with 4 in the equation. 4 + 3y = 16

Step 2: Use the substitution method to subtract 4 from both sides. (4-4) + 3y = (16 - 4) ——> 3y = 12

Step 3: You must now get the variable y alone, so divide 3 to both sides. 3y/3 = 12/3 ——> y = 4

The answer is (4,4)
