take the square root of both sides to get rid of parenthasees, remember to get the positive and negative root
5x-2=+/-√10
add 2 to both sides
5x=2+/-√10
divide by 5
x=[tex] \frac{2+/- \sqrt{10} }{y} [/tex]

x= [tex] \frac{2+ \sqrt{10} }{y} [/tex] or [tex] \frac{2- \sqrt{10} }{y} [/tex]

x=1.03246 or -0.232456
