The answer is: reality principle

According to the reality principle, humans are driven by Ego that make us become more likely to seek activities that bring the most pleasures in order to  fulfill the expectation by the people around us.

The principles believes that all humans born with primal urges that would constantly crave better things that we have. It does not only serve to fulfill our basic needs, but in order to maintain high social status in order to ensure our survivability.
