Plug 2 into x and -1 into y
4(2) + 3(-1) = 5
Multiply 4 and 2
8 + 3(-1) = 5
Multiply 3 and -1 (keep in mind that a negative multiplied by a positive number is a negative number.)
8 +-3 = 5
Keep the 8, Change the addition sign to a subtraction sign, and change the -3 to a positive three. You do this because if you are adding a positive and negative number together, you keep, change, change.
8 - 3 = 5
Subtract 3 from 8
5=5
This means the linear equation contains the point (2,-1) on a coordinate graph.
