Since we want to split up 3 yards of yarn for 6 friends, we have to divide 3 by 6 to see how many pieces each friend would get.

3/6=1/2

Each friend would get 1/2 yard of yarn!

You can check your answer by multiplying 6 by 1/2, and you will get 3!

Hope I helped! :)
