False because the answer to the problems are different. One is positive and one is negative.

Hi!

The simplest way to find out if they're equal is by solving each of them.

Imagine a number line.

  • -7 + 9

-7 moves to the right 9 times, and lands on 2.

  • -9 + 7

-9 moves to the right 7 times, and lands on -2.

So, does -7 + 9 = -9 + 7?

Or we could say, does 2 = -2?

The answer is no. This is false.

Hope this helps! :)
