Since they are supplementary angles, both of them will add up to 180°

m∠1+m∠2=180

m∠1 is less than m∠2 by 40°

m∠1+40=m∠2

Substitute m∠1+40 for m∠2

m∠1+m∠1+40=180

2(m∠1)+40=180

          -40    -40

2(m∠1)=140

2(m∠1)/2=140/2

m∠1=70°

70°+m∠2=180°

-70            -70

m∠2=110°

Answer: m∠1=70°    

              m∠2=110°
