I believe the answer is: Military success and conquest were main drivers of economic growth

through millitary campaigns, Egypt, mesopotamia, and anatolia managed to obtain large number of slaves. They use these slaves as a hard labor which reduce their overall expense since they did not need to pay them, which lead to massive growth in their economy.
