I believe the answer is: Trial by Ordeal

Trial by ordeal refers to the trial to determine the innocence of a defendant which being done by exposing the defendant with some painful or dangerous experience. This method usually being done in ancient Europe to avoid juries that are most likely controlled by the Government.
