The combined meaning of the prefix and the root of the word remand. The meaning of remand as verb is to send back or to consign again. As a noun it is the act of remanding. Comes from Middle-French remander, 'send for again', or directly from Late Latin remandare, from Latin re "back" plus mandare (see mandate)  to repeat a command, send back, to entrust, enjoin.
