To merge layers in photoshop, simply select the layers you want to merge and: (select all that apply)
-from the dropdown select layer > merge layers
-go to the layers palette dropdown window (looks like a hamburger) and select merge layers
-press Cmd or Ctrl E
-right click the selected layers and click merge layers
